"A Funny Thing happened On The Way To The Forum" is the type of show that runs so smoothly, many people think it was whipped up in one weekend--How wrong they are! There were 3 separate versions and 3 opening numbers--the first try was "Love Is In The Air" which was cute but did not set the stage for the evening. Second was "Invocation and Instructions To The Audience"--it was thrown out by George Abbott (the director) because he said it wasn't "humable". Finally came "Comedy Tonight"--catchy, bouncy and it was the perfect set-up for the show.
This file includes the opening fanfare and has been sequenced from the vocal score with all music interludes intact.
Lyrics (and some dialogue) has been submitted as well.
